Resurrection Through Carnage

I got an old page from the Vigilante comic series a while back. Cool piece, but there was one part that used an overlay of tracing paper, and the glue behind it had gone yellow. It seemed like it would be easy enough to fix, I just needed to wait until I had the balls to do it.

That time is now.

Ok, so this is how it started, obviously it's a major distraction.

Time to peel it off!

There it goes, with thankfully no drama. The glue was totally dried out.

I stuck the piece onto one side of a double-sided adhesive sheet.

I cut it out, leaving a bit of wiggle room for later. At this point it's like your basic sticker.

Peeling off the second backing sheet, I put it on some high quality thick paper, so that the old glue wouldn't show through.

Time for more adhesive sheeting on the back of the paper mount.

Then the really frigging scary part of cutting it out with a knife. I couldn't use a ruler or anything, no straight lines.

Yay, still in one piece.

After a few rehersals to make sure I was going to place it correctly (was only going to get one shot at it), it was time to peel the final layer.
Hey, it actually worked!

Looks so much better now. Still a slight hint of the glue showing, since a little was on the tracing paper, but I was not going to risk trying to clean it.

Captain Consumer Man

Yeah, the new Transformers movie line of toys got released here yesterday. I've had this statue of Bumblebee on my desk at work for the last week, though I've been unable to actually buy it since they were embargoed until June 2 (I work in a department store, with a large toy section. I even used to run the toy department, oh those were cool times. I always had the comic toys in prominent places).

I pretty much despise the section of the collector market that insists on leaving figures mint in packaging, but this one will be staying in the box, for the simple reason that the box is almost as cool-looking as the figure. I took it out of the box and removed the extra packaging holding it in place though. I hope they make more statues like this, so far it's the only one.

Got a couple more art pages from eBay, this time from Vigilante.

The second page has one of comics great lines:

What guy hasn't said that to themselves at some point?

Hey there, tough guy

Marv Wolfman came up with some great tough-guy lines on his Vigilante run. I wonder if it's too long after IC to reboot the character, he'd fit in well on something like Manhunter. Or anywhere, I don't care.
Yep, everyone has an old (usually dead) character they long for the return of. Vigilante is mine.

The amazing Vigilante #1, a grim and gritty crime fighter

Adrian Chase, former lawyer, embarks on the very first issue of his own series as The Vigilante. He's tough, and he'll kill you! And he is in no way is a rip off of The Punisher. Honest!

Things are looking bad for mob boss Quilt!

Almost there!

Vigilante confronts his prey, and they engage in a manly game of handball!!!

Fortunately, the Vigilante is a really bad loser, and takes him down! Suck on that, bad guy.

Oh yeah, and there's some lame-ass hired killer by the name of 'Brand', who has the genius idea to name himself after his weapon of choice. Yes, he will burn the letter 'B' into your face. The 'B' stands for 'Brand', since that's his name and that's what he'll do to you. Genius!

Thankfully Vigilante does us all a favour, and kills him too. Because really, who needs to see that again?
